The Cologne dialect: Development trends

The article studies the Cologne dialect in process of its historical development. current state is notable for a wide and different ways varied range regional, social, functional stylistic layers (levels) close coordination with one another. Notably, this system not stable, it constantly changes under influence technical, cultural, other factors. research on language change often disregards material featuring prominently context linguistics. focuses which have taken place last decades. based songs carnival performers dialect. This dialect, spoken city surrounding areas, much more than variety. It has associations cultural events especially carnival. song texts two exponents are used as practical study comparison most characteristic phonetic grammatical properties In course their linguistic analysis from beginning 20th century up to now, been determined that undergone some changes; however, there no clear trend towards moving closer standard German. conclusions offer an insight into regional variant relationships between German language.
